जयपुर में इन दिनों महिला आईपीएल यानि कि ‘महिला टी-20 चैलेंज’ खेला जा रहा है. बुधवार को सवाई मान सिंह स्टेडियम में खेले गए दूसरे मुक़ाबले में मिथाली राज की कप्तानी वाली ‘वेलोसिटी’ ने स्मृति मंधाना की कप्तानी वाली ‘ट्रैलब्लेज़र्स’ टीम को 3 विकेट से हराया.
ट्रैलब्लेज़र्स के 112 के जवाब में शेफ़ाली वर्मा (34) और डेनियल विएट (46) की शानदार परियों की बदौलत वेलोसिटी ने ये मुक़ाबला दो ओवर शेष रहते ही जीत लिया.
वेलोसिटी की इस जीत की असल हीरो रही 15 साल की शेफ़ाली वर्मा. पहला विकेट 25 रन पर गंवाने के बाद शेफ़ाली ने जिस अंदाज़ में बल्लेबाज़ी की, वो शानदार था. इतनी कम उम्र में शेफ़ाली ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय गेंदबाज़ों की जमकर धुलाई की. उन्होंने 31 गेंदों में 34 रनों की इस पारी के दौरान 5 चौके और 1 शानदार छक्का भी लगाया.
हरियाणा के रोहतक की रहने वाली शेफ़ाली वर्मा ने अपने शानदार प्रदर्शन से सभी को प्रभावित किया है. शेफ़ाली अपनी पावरफ़ुल हिटिंग के कारण फ़ैंस की नज़रों में आ चुकी हैं. वो तेजी से रन बनाने में यकीन रखती हैं. उनका निडर होकर खेलना ही उनकी सबसे बड़ी ताकत है.
अंडर-19 क्रिकेट में शानदार प्रदर्शन
शेफ़ाली वर्मा ने इसी साल खेले गए ‘अंडर-19 महिला क्रिकेट लीग’ में हरियाणा के लिए शनदार पर्दशन किया था. 5 मैचों में दो शतक और एक अर्ध शतक के साथ 94 के शानदार औसत से शेफ़ाली ने कुल 376 रन बनाये. इस दौरान उनका स्ट्राइक रेट 172.48 था.
