हमने कई तरह की तीर्थ यात्राओं के बारे में पढ़ा और सुना है. अमरनाथ यात्रा हो या चारधाम यात्रा, धार्मिक आस्था से जुड़ी यात्राओं का अनुभव ही अलग होता है.

Excited to finally have that story out on National Geographic! I first heard of the mud volcanoes of Balochistan while I was in Pakistan and I just couldnt believe it, I had to see it. Coupled with a Hindu pilgrimage, I managed to convinced my editor that I should shoot a story on it. It was a hard assignment, lots of walking in extreme heat and dust and the madness of any pilgrimage, religious fervour, noise, packed temple… Here is a quiet aerial view, Hindu pilgrims climb the steep flanks of the mud volcano called Chandragup to throw coconuts into the crater—a ritual intended to thank the gods and makes wishes. The trek up to the rim of the volcano is one of the first rituals of the Hinglaj pilgrimage. हिंगलाज माता मंदिर का महत्व

कहते हैं जब विष्णु ने माता सती के शरीर के 51 टुकड़े किए थे तब माता का सिर जिस स्थान पर गिरा था, वहीं आज हिंगलाज माता का मंदिर है. अप्रैल में साधु और हठ योगी इस मंदिर तक 4 दिनों की तीर्थ यात्रा का आयोजन करते हैं जिसमें भारत और पाकिस्तान के सैंकड़ों हिन्दू हिस्सा लेते हैं.

एक यात्रा ज्वालामुखी से होते हुए

कराची से 330 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित हिंगलाज माता मंदिर पहुंचने के रास्ते में पड़ता है 300 फ़ीट ऊंचा ज्वालामुखी, चंद्रगुप.

लोगों का कहना है कि ये ज्वालामुखी इच्छाएं पूरी करता है. श्रद्धालु ज्वालामुखी में नारियल और फूल डालते हैं. कुछ लोग ज्वालामुखी से निकलने वाली गिली मिट्टी अपने साथ ले जाते हैं और अपने घर पर उस मिट्टी से छोटा सा घर बनाते हैं, जिससे घर में सौभाग्य रहे.
