I am so shocked to know abt the violence at JNU. Students attacked brutally. Police shud immediately stop violence and restore peace. How will the country progress if our students will not be safe inside univ campus?

The brutal attack on JNU students & teachers by masked thugs, that has left many seriously injured, is shocking.
— Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) January 5, 2020
The fascists in control of our nation, are afraid of the voices of our brave students. Today’s violence in JNU is a reflection of that fear.

Wounded students at AIIMS trauma centre told me that goons entered the campus and attacked them with sticks and other weapons. Many had broken limbs and injuries on their heads. One student said the police kicked him several times on his head.

JNU students and professors were subjected to a cowardly but planned attack. I strongly condemn this undemocratic act of vandalism and violence. Use of violent means to suppress democratic values and thought will never succeed.

Why do you need to cover your face? Because you know you are doing something wrong, illegal & punishable. There is no honour in this-Its horrific to see the visuals of students & teachers brutally attacked by masked goons inside JNU-Such violence cannot & should not be tolerated

I’m sorry, students of #JNU and of India. You’re bearing the brunt of a fascist dictatorship & we, the people, YOUR people, your Nation, are failing you. 🙁
— VISHAL DADLANI (@VishalDadlani) January 5, 2020
such is the condition inside what we consider to be a place where our future is shaped. It’s getting scarred for ever. Irreversible damage. What kind of shaping up is happening here, it’s there for us to see…. saddening https://t.co/Qt2q7HRhLG

Let’s be clear! The attack on JNU last night is a culmination of three years of relentless and false villification of JNU students, teachers & the institution itself – by the govt., Godi media, BJP IT cell & their minions and many times by the JNU VC and JNU admin itself! https://t.co/STIUxJ2MPa

It doesn’t matter what your politics are. It doesn’t matter what your ideology is. It doesn’t matter what your faith is. If you’re an Indian, you cannot tolerate armed, lawless goons. Those who invaded JNU tonight must be traced & hunted down swiftly & given no quarter…

This is beyond shocking ! Condemnation is not enough. Immediate action needs to be taken against the perpetrators . https://t.co/P5Arv9aNhj

All my colleagues present in the meeting with the Government right now, please talk to them about what’s going on in JNU right now. You can’t offer us scrumptious dinners while atrocities go on with students.

Not a clash.

A big group of masked goons was allowed to enter the JNU hostel by the cops. They were joined by some ABVP students (identified by their classmates/hostel mates) and one JNU professor. It was an organised attack, the evidence is there in the public domain. https://t.co/OTdcPQ8PSF
I released this video last night. It says everything about #JNU mob attack, most of all about the police – that almost escorts this mob of 50, holding iron rods and sticks out of campus, instead of jailing them. See the impunity with which they saunter out https://t.co/5Ieb0MYOFG

We strongly condemn the violence on JNU campus. This is a desperate attempt by forces of anarchy, who are determined to use students as cannon fodder, create unrest to shore up their shrinking political footprint. Universities should remain places of learning and education.
