हाल ही में केरल सरकार ने कुछ ऐसा किया है जिसकी चर्चा सोशल मीडिया पर ख़ूब हो रही है. उन्होंने काम ही ऐसा किया है. दरअसल, केरल के पर्यटन मंत्री कडकमपल्ली सुरेंद्रन ने एक पार्क का हाल ही में उदघाटन किया था. इसकी कुछ तस्वीरें उन्होंने ट्विटर पर शेयर कर दीं. इन्हें देख लोगों को विदेश की याद आ रही है, क्योंकि ये पार्क देख कर उन्हें किसी यूरोपीय देश के पार्क की याद आ रही है.

ये पार्क केरल के कोझिकोड ज़िले के वडाकरा के पास काराकड गांव में बनाया गया है. इसका नाम वागभटानंद पार्क(Vagbhatananda Park) है. इसमें ओपन स्टेज, ओपन जिम, बैडमिंटन कोर्ट और चिल्ड्रन पार्क बना है. पार्क में शौचालय भी हैं..

इसमें दिव्यांग और दृष्टिहीन लोगों के आने-जाने के हिसाब से रास्ते भी बनाए गए हैं. यहां पर पहले से ही पार्क था. लेकिन उसकी हालत बहुत ख़राब थी. जब सरकार ने नया पार्क बनाने की योजना बनाई तो उसमें स्थानीय लोगों ने उनका साथ दिया.

इस पार्क का नाम स्थानीय समाजसेवक वागभटानंद गुरू के नाम पर रखा गया है. इसे बनाने में 2.80 करोड़ रुपये की लागत आई है. इसे बनाने में Uralungal Labour Contractors Cooperative Society (ULCCS) ने मदद की है. इसकी स्थापना वागभटानंद गुरु ने ही की थी.
