वित्तीय संकट से जूझ रही जेट एयरवेज़ ने बुधवार रात 10.20 बजे अपनी आखरी उड़ान भरी. पिछले एक दशक में किंगफ़िशर के बाद जेट एयरवेज़ ऐसी दूसरी कंपनी है.
जेट एयरवेज़ ने 25 साल पहले मुंबई से अपना हवाई सफ़र शुरू किया था. 25 साल बाद मुंबई में ही इस सफ़र को ख़त्म भी किया. जेट ने अपनी पहली उड़ान 5 मई, 1993 को में मुंबई से अहमदाबाद के लिए भरी थी. जबकि आख़री उड़ान अमृतसर से मुंबई के लिए भरी.
इसके साथ ही आज से कंपनी के 22 हज़ार कर्मचारी बेरोज़गार हो जायेंगे. जिसमें 16 हज़ार स्थाई जबकि 6 हज़ार कॉन्ट्रैक्चुअल कर्मचारी थे.
दरअसल, बैंकों ने जेट एयरवेज़ को वित्तीय सहायता देने से इनकार कर दिया था. कंपनी के पास उड़ानों के संचालन के लिए ज़रूरी कैश भी ख़त्म हो गया था. कंपनी पर 8 हज़ार करोड़ रुपये से अधिक का कर्ज़ है और बैंकों ने 400 करोड़ रुपये का इमर्जेंसी फ़ंड देने से भी इंकार कर दिया. इसी के बाद कंपनी को मजबूरन ये बड़ा फ़ैसला लेना पड़ा.
